The Results

Here's the breakdown of the last time CPAP users like you last replaced their mask:

  • Over 1 year ago: 42.51%
  • I don't remember: 24.64%
  • About 6 months ago: 22.71%
  • About 1 year ago: 10.14%

Our results revealed that the majority of CPAP users haven’t replaced their masks in a year or longer, or don’t remember when they last replaced.

Seeing these numbers, it’s clear that many CPAP users are in the same boat — putting off mask replacement longer than they should. But here’s the catch: using an old mask isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a barrier to good sleep. Below we outline the consequences of neglecting your mask replacements and the recommended schedule.

How does Easy Breathe work with insurance?

Easy Breathe is one of the only online CPAP providers able to bill insurance. We work with most major insurance carriers, including the ones below:

  • BCBS
  • United Healthcare
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Humana

Because Easy Breathe is able to be an out-of-network provider for these insurance companies, we can help CPAP patients with different insurance carriers in all 50 states instead of being limited to one service area.

And it gets better! Many people going through their insurance worry about getting stuck with the bill after receiving their equipment. Unlike many out-of-network providers, Easy Breathe does not balance-bill patients for the amount that their insurance company denies or does not cover. We will never send you an additional bill for your order once it has shipped.

What happens after I request my insurance check?

Your work is done! After we have information about your benefits, we will reach out to you and give you a detailed quote for all the supplies you are looking for!

After you purchase your supplies, you're all set and your supplies will ship to you in a matter of days! We will file a claim with your insurance without any extra effort from you. Even if our quote was incorrect or if things do not work out as planned with your insurance company, we will not charge you for that order again.*

*The only circumstance in which a second invoice will be sent to you is if the insurance company mails the payment check for your order to you instead of to us - which sometimes happens because we are out-of-network. In this case, we will only invoice you for the amount of the check that you are depositing on our behalf. Alternatively, you can always contact our billing department and mail that check to us instead. If you are ever confused about your payment or our policy, we are more than happy to answer your questions at (866) 564-2252.

What CPAP supplies will insurance cover?

CPAP supplies need to be regularly replaced, and insurance can help with that! Many CPAP users are unaware that their insurance covers not only their machine, but also the supplies that they go through each month. Almost all insurance companies follow the same replacement schedule for how often they will cover new equipment. We've created a list of that replacement schedule to make things a bit easier for you—click here to check it out.

There are a few other essential products that insurance unfortunately does not cover because they are not deemed necessary. These uncovered products include travel machines, cleaners, comfort products, and power supplies. However, we don't really share that sentiment. We think that these products are definitely necessary to getting your best night's sleep, every night. Here are some options to help you get these supplies more easily:

  • Cleaner Sale: Cleaning your CPAP regularly is vital to getting effective sleep therapy and staying healthy. Our best-selling CPAP cleaner, the Lumin CPAP Sanitizer, will kill 99% of the germs on your CPAP with the click of one button, and it is currently $70 off.
  • AirMini Payment Plan: We mentioned our payment plans for machines, but we didn't stop there. We also offer payment plans for our travel CPAP, cleaners, and batteries. Here's our most popular payment plan -- you can get the world's smallest travel CPAP, the ResMed AirMini, for just $399 down today!
  • Battery Sale: Whether you have a power outage or go somewhere without power sources, a CPAP battery can be a lifesaver. Our smallest yet most powerful CPAP battery, the Zopec Explore Mini Battery, is $40 off for a limited time.

I don't have insurance, or I don't want to deal with it. What other solutions do you have?

Regardless of your specific insurance coverage, we want to work with you to make it as easy as possible to get supplies you need. Many of our CPAP customers actually prefer to forgo insurance and use a few of our convenient, affordable services and offers to get their CPAP supplies quickly. Here are just three of our most popular services:

  • FSA/HSA: If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) that is linked to a major credit card, those cards can be used on our website like a regular credit card to purchase medical equipment. Many of these cards will even allow you to purchase health-related items that are normally not covered by insurance! We recommend contacting your administrator just to make sure.
  • Payment Plans: We know that without insurance's help, it can be hard to cover the cost of CPAP supplies, especially a CPAP machine. That's why we created Easy Payment Plans. With payment plans, you can get a new machine without having to pay full price up front. You can even add supply kits to those payment plans for our most popular CPAPs! These plans are all 0% interest and do not require a credit check. Trust us, you won't find this deal anywhere else.
  • Online Prescription Renewal: If you want to save time and skip a trip to the doctor, we've got you covered. Our prescription package provides a renewal prescription in as little as 1 business day, and you don't have to step foot outside!

Why Your CPAP Mask Needs Replacing

Mask Maintenance

CPAP masks aren’t built to last forever. Over time, cushions lose their seal, headgear stretches, and small cracks can appear. These changes lead to air leaks, discomfort, and reduced therapy effectiveness — all of which can leave you feeling tired despite using your CPAP every night. Replacing your mask on schedule ensures your treatment stays comfortable, hygienic, and effective.

In general, insurance companies adhere to a common replacement timeline when it comes to CPAP masks and parts. This schedule is a good rule of thumb:
