The frame is the rigid (or semi-rigid) plastic structure that holds the mask together — it connects the cushion to the headgear and the hose. The cushion is the soft silicone or foam piece that sits against your face and creates the seal. Both wear out over time, but cushions need replacing more frequently (every 2–4 weeks) while frames typically last about 3 months.
